Northern Chancellery's visit to Saint Emilion, September 2006
The York Chancellery of the Jurade visits Saint-Emilion each year for the Ban des Vendanges, enjoying Saint-Emilion’s wonderful hospitality and the ceremonial beginning of the vintage.
In 2006 the group was, as always, most generously and warmly received at a number of Chateaux, some already very old friends as well as new ones whom it was a pleasure to meet. This year we visited: Châteaux Grand Mayne, Fleur Cardinale, Ripeau, Cantenac, Balestard la Tonnelle, Bellefont Belcier, Grand Corbin, Figeac,La Bonelle, Haut Veyrac, Laroze and Puy Razac.
Thumbnail photographs from parts of the visit, including some of our reception at some of those Châteaux and the ceremonies for the Intronisation of new Vignerons d’Honneur, are shown below. Sadly a combination of time passing so pleasantly and technical incompetence on the part of the Chancellor means that there are fewer than usual and none of some of the Chateaux which we visited.
